Schedule I Controlled Substances

Substances in this schedule have no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse.

Some examples of substances listed in Schedule I are: heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), peyote, methaqualone, and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine ("Ecstasy").

US Patent 6,630,507 ~ Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants 

Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention. A particular disclosed class of cannabinoids useful as neuroprotective antioxidants is formula (I) wherein the R group is independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH.sub.3, and COCH.sub.3. ##STR1##

The present invention provides stable, fast-acting liposomal and micelle formulations of cannabinoids that are suitable for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

US Patent 8,980,941 ~ Controlled Cannabis decarboxylation 

The invention is a process for the controlled decarboxylation of cannabis wherein Medicinal Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (.DELTA..sup.9-THC) and other cannabinoid medicinal substances are decarboxylated through a chemical reaction facilitated by a cofactor. The amount of medicinal cannabis decarboxylated will be directly proportional to the amount of cofactor used. Use a small amount of the cofactor and only some of the medicinal cannabis contained in raw cannabis will be converted from an acidic form into a non-acidic form. Use a large amount of the cofactor and most or all of the medicinal cannabis will be decarboxylated. The reaction is proportional to the molar mass of cofactor.

US Patent 8,771,760 ~ Method for the treatment of constipation 

The present invention relates to treatment of cancer related pain and constipation. Preferably the subject in need is administered a combination of the cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). More preferably the cannabinoids are in a predefined ratio by weight of approximately 1:1 of CBD to THC.

US Patent 8,906,429 ~ Medical cannabis lozenges and compositions thereof 

A method for optimizing the therapeutic effects provided by CBD on the one hand, and the psychotropic effects provided by THC on the other hand, in a sublingual medicament, the method includes the steps of obtaining a concentrated extract of cannabis in which the concentration of CBD is known and the concentration of THC is known, formulating a hydrophilic mixture containing ingredients such as sugar, corn syrup, xylitol, purified water, organic flavorings, coconut oil, and concentrated extract of cannabis, wherein the amount of CBD is as high as possible and where the amount of THC is precisely controlled, forming lozenges, and administering the medicament.

US Patent 8,937,097 ~ Methods for purifying trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol and trans-(+)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol 

Methods for making trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol and trans-(+)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol composition is prepared by allowing a composition comprising (.+-.)-.DELTA..sup.9)-tetrahydrocannabinol to separate on a chiral stationary phase to provide a trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol composition comprising at least about 99% by weight of trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol based on the total amount of trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol and trans-(+)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol. The invention also relates to methods for treating or preventing a condition such as pain comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a trans-(-)-.DELTA..sup.9-tetrahydrocannabinol having a purity of at least about 98% based on the total weight of cannabinoids.

This invention relates to a new technology that enables administration of Cannabis to patients for medical purposes. In one embodiment, this invention is a component of a system of technologies, processes and concepts that creates a new method of producing, delivering, administering and regulating the use of medical cannabis.

US Patent 8,778,418 ~ Method of obtaining hemp plant juice and use of same for the production of beverages 

The present invention relates to a method for producing beverages on the basis of juice from the hemp plant. The invention relates to a method for obtaining juice suitable for human consumption from the hemp plant, wherein the complete hemp stem is pressed after harvest without prior drying or retting. The invention further provides a method for obtaining juice from the hemp plant, wherein the upper leafy part of the hemp plant is cut, the leaves are stripped of the remaining stem, fibers and shives being separated from each other at the stem, the leafy part of the stem, the fibers and the shives being pressed individually under pressure and the so obtained pressed juices are being mixed in a controlled manner. In a yet further aspect, the invention relates to a method for the manufacturing of beverages on the basis of juice from the hemp plant, wherein the hemp juice is mixed with yeast and than fermented.

US Patent 8,895,078 ~ Method for producing an extract from cannabis plant matter, containing a tetrahydrocannabinol and a cannabidiol and cannabis extracts 

The invention relates to a method for producing an extract from cannabis plant matter, containing tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol and optionally the carboxylic acids thereof. According to said method, the dried plant matter is ground and subjected to a CO.sub.2 extraction and the primary extract obtained is separated. The invention method permits .DELTA..sup.8 or .DELTA..sup.9 tetrahydrocannabinol to be selectively obtained both from industrial hemp and from drug-producing hemp, optionally after dissolving the primary extract in ethanol, separating undesirable waxes and removing the solvent under reduced pressure.

US Patent 8,753,696 ~ Methods for preparing cannabis and related products 

A method for preparing a medical marijuana mixture includes combining prepared medical marijuana and an alkaline substance in a pulverizing device. The alkaline substance may be coconut, cinnamon, or the like. The pulverizing device may be a coffee grinder, a food processor, a blender, or the like. The mixture may optionally include a sweetener, such as sugar, stevia, or the like.

US Patent 8,846,409 ~ Methods of preparing cannabinoids from plant material 

The invention relates to methods of preparing cannabinoids in substantially pure form starting from plant material. Also described are substantially pure preparations of various cannabinoids and cannabinoid acids, and also extracts enriched in cannabinoids and cannabinoid acids.
