We patients of Florida need to be able to grow our own plants and make some of our own medicine to keep the costs down. The patients who truly need cannabis for a better quality of life without opiates are on Social Security Disability (limited income) and we cannot afford our monthly cannabis medicine without some help. Allowing us to grow some plants woould be a huge help to so many of us.

Patients who need medical marijuana need their rights to use it as they feel is good for them, and not what a government or a doctor says is right for them . They should have the right to smoke, eat, drink, or whatever a patient prefers. The patient, most importantly should have the right to grow medical marijuana for themselves! Most patients that need Medical marijuana can not afford $20 $30, or as much as $80 dollars a day to pay the current commercial sales prices, while meeting their daily needs for their continuing treatment. For example, in the state of Michigan their laws allow for commercial sales, as well as sales by caregivers as well. The commercial market includes licensed growers, and sales. A caregiver is a person who has a license that specifically grows for a person. A caregiver can grow for other patients and only sell and grow to those patients, or a person that this person has chosen to grow for them, who must has a medical marijuana license. A person who has a medical marijuana card may also choose to grow marijuana for themselves . These rights should be available to patients in Puerto Rico. The state of Colorado has laws that pertain to the rights of all people, as well a patients’ rights for medical marijuana. In Colorado there are sales for medical and recreation use, but most importantly, the patients can grow for themselves to keep their medical costs down, people around the US have moved to Colorado because of there patient rights, and many people have who moved to Michigan for this same reason. Most states have legalized medical marijuana for an alternative way or use of natural none-processed medicine that has proven to be beneficial, and many are living today because of the use of medical marijuana, with a better quality of life, with clean, clinically proven reduction in pain symptoms. In most states that have legalized medical marijuana the patient can grow for themselves, and we hope that patients in Puerto Rico will someday benefit from the same rights.

In the early ’90s I was in prison for 76 marijuana plants that I was sentenced as thou it was 163 lbs. We all know that is an unreasonable amount from 76 plants, but that is what the sentencing guidelines called for. I set out to help get this changed and with help from the then newly formed Marijuana Policy Project and Families Against Mandatory Minimums we managed to change the guideline that said one plant was equal to 1000 grams to one plant being equal to 100 grams. Because I had the time on my hands I sent out several hundred letters asking people to help get this change (example of a letter can be found at Druglibrary.org or google Paul Westmoreland 43766-019) The point being that even though you are locked up there are still things you can do to bring about change.

We need to research our Judges and District Attorneys before election time. We have some really messed up people calling the shots. No way to get rid of them except to educate yourself and then vote them out of office. I have been slack as a voter. Not anymore, too much going on out there and if you don’t vote, you really don’t have much right to complain. We need these peaceful people brought home to their family. The meth labs need to go. This is what the Police need to be putting in jail , amongst others. Go look at the wanted fugitives on your county and city jail page, and look how many are habitual drunk drivers, they just keep getting turned out on the street. Find out who these Judges are and send them packing. A federal judge gave a child molester a brief jail sentence and probation, right down the hall, a bear hunter, out of season, went to federal prison and is still there….. It is a travesty what goes on right under our noses, by the people who are suppose to be protecting us. They do exactly what the ones with the money pay them to do. Rigged up and paid off.
