Final Pretrial Hearing

Court support is crucial. Attending court support shows community solidarity. It shows the Judge, the Jury, and the Prosecutor that we will not tolerate this injustice any longer. We show that we the people support cannabis and demand they stop arresting and prosecuting cannabis patients. No-one belongs in jail for a plant. Join Team Green for court support.

Jason's story ~ I am 38 yrs old. I am a father of 5. Currently, three live with me and my wife. I suffer from severe pain. I have three blown disc in my back along with severe neuropathy associated with the discs. Thus, my reasons for using medical marijuana. My wife is also a medical cannabis patient who suffers from IBS and hyperhidrosis which cannabis provides relief.

In 2013, I was laid off for the 3rd time. I was looking for work in Southern Illinois which houses one of the highest unemployment rates in the country along with very few opportunities for employment. I had been watching the marijuana movement closely in Illinois along with the rest of the country. Medical marijuana passed in 2013 in Illinois.

So, I thought the cannabis industry was legal. A friend of mine in another state cultivates cannabis. He propositions me with an opportunity to get out of the financial squalor we were in. I took him up on it in mid to late 2013 and in March of 2014. Sadly,  my mother in law turned me in to the state police and had me raided. During the raid, they seized 22 lbs of medical marijuana and $9,000 in cash.

The took my kids and destroyed our life. Now we are 3 days away from being homeless even though I work a full time minimum wage job. The federal government wants to lock me up for 5 years while my family, fiends for themselves in this waste of a state.

As for any money I may have made from cannabis was given back to the/my community. I helped pay people's house payments, car payments , light bills, whatever they needed for help. During Christmas I sponsored nine families giving their children a Christmas  because they couldn't afford to. I helped people get back on their feet. I wasn't supporting any gang or terrorism or buying guns or flashy cars. I paid my bills abd helped the people of my community pay theirs. Not really prison worthy I didn't think.

I was excited to be part of the cannabis community, movement, industry..I never thought I would be in this part of War on Cannabis. No-one belongs in jail for a plant. This is my story in a nutshell.
